There are three types of IDEs:

  • Most popular IDE

• VS Codium:

  • Unofficial FOSS fork with telemetry removed
  • supports extensions, though it uses a different store

• Visual Studio: Specialized in C/C++/C# programming and debugging

  • Community edition is free
